Ginger Griffin, EdD, NCSP

Clinical Director
Licensed School Psychologist

Ginger Griffin is the Clinical Director and Psychologist at the Child Development Clinic. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Bridgewater College, Master of Arts degree and Educational Specialist degree in school psychology from James Madison University, and Doctor of Education degree in school psychology from the University of Virginia. Ginger carries certifications as a School Psychologist through the VA Department of Education and the National Association of School Psychologists and is a Licensed School Psychologist through the Virginia Board of Psychology. Along with her service to the CDC since 2001, she is a clinical faculty member for the JMU Graduate School Psychology program. Her areas of interest include assessment and interventions for children and adolescents with emotional, behavioral, and learning problems, the impact of trauma on children, training and supervision of students, and interdisciplinary teams.

Molly Bowman, PsyD

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Molly Bowman is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with the Child Development Clinic. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at Indiana University, Master of Education degree in community counseling at the College of William and Mary, and Doctor of Psychology degree in clinical and school psychology at James Madison University. Prior to joining the CDC, Molly worked in the hospital setting where she treated children who exhibited comorbid health and psychological concerns. Her passion is working to identify diagnoses, care plans, and appropriate treatment modalities for those who exhibit a wide array of mental health issues. Outside of work, she likes to cook, walk her dogs, and hike with her husband.

Dawn Hall, MEd

Educational Consultant

Dawn Hall is an Educational Consultant at the Child Development Clinic. She graduated from University of Hartford with a dual degree in elementary education and special education. Dawn earned her Master of Education from the University of Virginia and a post-master’s certificate in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) from Regent University. In addition to teaching special education in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Virginia, Dawn is a Wilson certified reading teacher and English as a second language (ESL) teacher. Her interests include literacy acquisition, language development, special education advocacy, and identification of appropriate academic and behavioral interventions for students. In her spare time, Dawn enjoys gardening, yoga, skiing, travel, and spending time with family.

Abby Massey, MD

Medical Director

Abby Massey joined the Child Development Clinic as Medical Director in 2018. Dr. Massey completed her undergraduate degree in psychology at James Madison University and received her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She completed a dual residency program at the University of Maryland in Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine. Dr. Massey works in the clinical setting part time and is an assistant professor for the Department of Health Professions at JMU in the Physician Assistant Program.

Jared Tschohl, MAT, MEd

Educational Consultant

Jared Tschohl joined the Child Development Clinic team in 2014. He holds Virginia state licensures in special education general curriculum, English as a second language, and history and social sciences. He has earned a Master of Education degree in equity and cultural diversity, Master of Arts degree in teaching, and Bachelor of Arts in interdisciplinary social sciences, all from James Madison University. Prior to coming to the CDC, he taught elementary special education. His areas of interest include: educating parents on their rights, universal preschool, dyslexia, cultural competency in teacher education, and psycho-educational assessment for English Language Learners (ELLs).

Daveen Woods, RN, BSN

Registered Nurse

Daveen Woods is the Registered Nurse at the Child Development Clinic. She graduated from Washington Adventist University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She was previously employed at the Commonwealth Center for Children and Adolescents for seven years before joining the CDC team in 2013. Throughout her career, Daveen has worked in a wide range of clinical and educational settings. Her areas of interest are health and wellness education and serving children and adolescents with special needs.

Karyn Collins

Administrative Program Specialist

Karyn has over 20 years of experience working with children. She joined the Child Development Clinic team in 2010. She is happy to support the work of the clinic and the services we provide for our families. Karyn is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree at James Madison University. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and spending time with her family.

Kellie Grathwol

Administrative Program Specialist

Kellie received her Bachelor of Business Administration from James Madison University in 2007. She started working for the Child Development Clinic later that year and has enjoyed being a member of the team and using her administrative skills to support the work of the clinic. For fun, she enjoys reading and traveling with her family.
